The New Convention Center

On Friday we visited the new convention center. It's big, and it is only half built. When you are trying to compare this to an American convention center, it is good to know that 1 square meter is pretty close to 10 square feet.
This is the foyer. There are 8 halls (so far) that I estimate to be 300' x 600'. I haven't done the math to see if that adds up to the totals given on the convention center Web site.
The four halls on one side are dedicated to Chinese manufacturers, while those on the other are for international manufacturers. All the big names in machine tools from around the world are here.

Here's a good-sized vertical boring mill. A boring mill is a lathe that has been stood on it's end. Notice that the table is a little blurry. It is turning.

And, of course, there is a lot of stuff that is of more direct interest to LittleMachineShop.com. It is great to talk to the manufacturers to find out what is new, and to help them understand what the American market wants.
